U.S. Welcomes Taiwan-China Trade Agreements
The United States said that the trade agreement between Taiwan and China offer hope for improved relations and stability in the region.
“The United States welcomes the increased dialogue and interaction between the PRC (People` s Republic of China) and Taiwan is the realization that the new agreement, “said State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid after the signing of the historic trade agreement, as quoted from the AFP.
“We are encouraged by the current increase in cross-strait relations and hoped that this relationship will continue to grow and develop.”
The new agreement appears as the decisive step towards reconciliation between the two parties agreed to, 60 years after the civil war. Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement was, was greeted by the two parties as a historical landmark and the commercial imperative in the era of strengthening regional cooperation, which has been signed by a senior delegation in the city of Chongqing, southwest China’s part.
The signing of these agreements makes the culmination of Beijing’s policy of partnership introduced by Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou.
